By the end of September 2025, Vietnam had exported more than 186,500 tons of pepper, earning nearly 1.27 billion USD. Although export volume fell by over 7%, the sharp rise in export prices brought total export revenue for the first nine months close to the full-year figure of 2024.

According to data from the General Department of Customs, Vietnam exported 186,503 tons of various types of pepper by the end of September, generating export earnings of nearly 1.27 billion USD. Compared to the same period last year, export volume decreased by 7.1%, but export value increased by 27.8%.

This disparity was primarily driven by a 37.6% rise in average export prices, which climbed to 6,787 USD per ton. As a result, despite three months remaining in the year, Vietnam’s pepper export value for the first nine months is already nearly equivalent to the total for 2024 (1.3 billion USD).

Notably, even though the volume of pepper exports to major markets declined, the value of exports to these destinations increased significantly. Specifically, exports to the United States reached 41,800 tons worth 312.3 million USD, down 28.2% in volume but up 4.3% in value.

Other key markets also recorded substantial gains. Export turnover to the Netherlands reached 52.53 million USD, South Korea 99.5 million USD, and India 71 million USD—up 17.7%, 43.4%, and 64.3%, respectively.

Conversely, data from the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA) showed that by the end of September, Vietnam had imported 36,112 tons of pepper worth 225.7 million USD. Of this, black pepper accounted for 30,728 tons and white pepper 5,384 tons. Compared with the same period in 2024, import volume rose by 51.9%, while import value surged by 121.1%, reflecting an increasing trend of reprocessing, blending, and deep processing activities within the country.

Domestically, according to VPSA, pepper prices are currently ranging from 146,000 to 149,000 VND per kilogram.

Among major producing provinces, Ba Ria–Vung Tau and Dong Nai recorded the highest prices at 149,000 VND per kilogram. Prices in Dak Nong and Dak Lak were at 148,000 VND, while in Binh Phuoc and Gia Lai, they stood at 147,000 and 146,000 VND per kilogram, respectively.
