Vietnam's deep processed seafood products are favored
Deep-processed products, mixed with various ingredients, are favored by foreign customers. These deep-processed products cater to the current trend of busy consumers who have little time for cooking.
According to information from the Vietnam News Agency (TTXVN) at Meeting of all members of the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) on June 10, seafood exports are forecasted to recover from Quarter 3, 2024. However, businesses still need to focus on market diversification, product diversification, and enhancing industry promotion.
VASEP's analysis indicates that Vietnamese seafood has an advantage in deep processing. At international seafood exhibitions in the US and the European Union (EU) this year, value-added processed products attracted special attention from customers. These products, which are richly varied and mixed with many ingredients, were well received and highly appreciated after tasting.
Deep-processed products align with the current trend of busy consumers who have little time for cooking. These products also provide businesses with better profit margins.
Vietnam has advantages in processing expertise and the high skill level of its workers. The production process for value-added products employs high technology and a closed system, ensuring the retention of the fresh flavor of seafood while increasing productivity with high-quality products.
According to VASEP data, as of the end of May, the country's seafood exports reached nearly 3.6 billion USD, an increase of 6% compared to the same period in 2023. Among the top four markets, exports to the US showed positive signs with a growth of 7%, while exports to China, Japan, and the EU were almost equivalent to the same period last year. Exports to South Korea increased slightly by 2%. It is forecasted that seafood exports in the first half of 2024 will reach 4.4 billion USD, up 6% compared to the same period in 2023.
