Vietnamese Fruits: "Each Fruit, Its True Flavor"

06/05/2026

'Each fruit has its true flavor' is a compliment from Chinese consumers for Vietnamese fruits.

One of the specialties of the North that the Chinese always look forward to is lychee. Lychee blooms in the spring, when the weather is cool and enters the harvest season in the harsh summer sun. Each growth period and nutritional accumulation of lychee is associated with different weather patterns. Therefore, lychee has a bright red color and a rare sweet taste, so it is very popular with the Chinese people. In the 2024 crop year, 9,200 tons of fresh lychee with the best quality were exported to China.

The Central and Central Highlands regions are warm and sunny all year round, and possess red basalt soil plantations created by geological activities millions of years ago. This is the land of endless passion fruit hills. This typical fruit of tropical Vietnam is known as a fruit that not only has a distinctive aroma but also has excellent nutritional value such as: Vitamin C, beta-carotene and polyphenol compounds that help the body strengthen the immune system, neutralize free radicals, and prevent aging.

Thanks to being cultivated in accordance with nature, Vietnamese passion fruit is not only delicious and beautiful but also meets strict requirements on food safety and plant quarantine. With an estimated output of 135,000 tons/year, passion fruit is always among the Vietnamese fruit trees with the highest export value and is also one of the 12 fruits officially exported to China. Not only that, the sunny and windy red basalt land of the Central Highlands is also the land of avocados, bananas, pineapples and many other fruits with sweet nutrients and unique characteristics of the tropics.

Vietnamese passion fruit is one of the fruits with the highest export value.

Going south, with a temperate tropical climate all year round, the vast land at the end of the Mekong River, blessed by nature with abundant alluvial resources, is the largest fruit orchard in Vietnam with many different types of good quality tropical fruits such as: dragon fruit, mangosteen, fresh coconut, mango, rambutan, green-skinned grapefruit...

Along with the Central Highlands and the Southeast region, the Mekong Delta is contributing to making Vietnam become the world's top durian exporting country. With excellent quality and the title "Queen of fruits", Vietnamese durian is organized and produced according to standards and science, with a special delicious flavor, golden segments, rich taste and seductive aroma that anyone who has eaten it once cannot forget. In 2023, Vietnam surpassed Thailand to rise to the No. 1 position in durian exports to China with a volume of nearly 33,000 tons, worth 161 million USD, 2.4 times higher in both volume and value compared to the same period in 2022.

Mr. Nguyen Khac Tien - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ameii Vietnam Joint Stock Company - a fruit exporter with a lot of experience in the Chinese market, affirmed that for Vietnamese fruit to continue to dominate this market, one of the decisive factors is that businesses work together. Because currently, exports are still carried out in a way that each person does it on their own, small businesses, and small-scale methods.

Sharing the same view on this, Mr. Nguyen Do Anh Tuan - Director of the Department of International Cooperation, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said that businesses need to unite, work together and look in the same direction to be able to go together in the long term, not only the Chinese market but also many other potential markets such as the US, Japan, EU... Under the accompaniment, support and supervision of state management agencies in accordance with the right orientation in terms of policies and exports, the policy on industry development will create sustainability for the export trend of agricultural products.
