Taking advantage of digital technology and cross-border e-commerce to exploit global export potential is being responded to by the Government and business community; contributing to bringing Vietnamese brands to the international market.

Ms. Truong Hoang Thuy Tien, Center for Informatics and Digital Technology, Department of E-Commerce and Digital Economy (E-Commerce and Architect - Ministry of Industry and Trade) said that many Vietnamese enterprises have traditionally exported to many countries around the world. However, the majority of exported products are in the form of raw materials or semi-finished products. After purchasing, foreign partners will process, package and attach their brands. This not only reduces added value but also loses the opportunity to promote Vietnamese brands in the international market.

For example, Vietnamese coffee is one of the world's most famous coffees, but very few international consumers know that they are drinking coffee originating from Vietnam. Most of Vietnam's exported coffee is in the form of raw coffee beans, not roasted or packaged. Instead, they know coffee brands from countries like the US (Starbucks) or Switzerland (Nestlé), while ingredients are imported from Vietnam. According to statistics from the Vietnamese coffee industry, currently about 82% of coffee output is exported in raw bean form.

Vietnam has a long tradition in ceramic production and is one of the largest ceramic exporters in the world. However, most of Vietnam's export ceramic products are in the form of ceramic blanks, not yet decorated, glazed and fired... Many of these products are exported to Japan, Korea or Europe and then sold under the brand names of these countries. International consumers are often unaware that the products they buy come from Vietnam, which has a long tradition and sophisticated techniques in the production of these items.

The number of Vietnamese branded products is starting to increase rapidly on e-commerce platforms such as Amazon, Etsy, Alibaba...Within 12 months until early September 2023, Vietnamese selling partners on Amazon sold 17 million Vietnamese-branded products to customers around the world; Strengthen the presence of Vietnamese goods globally. The number of Vietnamese selling partners through Amazon increased by 40%, with thousands of Vietnamese businesses seizing global business opportunities. According to Amazon statistics, thousands of small and medium-sized Vietnamese enterprises are exporting through Amazon, with the number of enterprises achieving annual revenue of over 1 million USD, increasing nearly 10 times.

Mr. Bui Trung Kien, Vice Chairman of Vietnam E-commerce Association (VECOM) said, for businesses with long-term cross-border orientation, how to go, how to make products; The development direction will be more methodical, longer-lasting, more sustainable, bringing more value to Vietnamese products, crossing Vietnam's borders and bringing products to the global market.

To support bringing Vietnamese brands to the international market; Center for Informatics and Digital Technology (Department of E-Commerce and Digital Economy) coordinates with major e-commerce platforms in the world and partners with resources; Technical solutions as well as operational procedures for implementing the Program to support export enterprises through e-commerce - Go Export. This is one of the practical solutions to encourage businesses to improve their capacity to produce, process, build brands and export high value-added products.

Deputy Director of the E-Commerce Department and Architect Nguyen Thi Minh Huyen said that Vietnam is increasingly integrating deeply with the world economy, along with opportunities from new generation free trade agreements; The trend of converting from traditional business to digital platforms is considered an effective solution to help businesses penetrate and expand export markets. Recently, with effective connections from the Department of E-Commerce and Architects and Amazon Global Selling, Vietnamese businesses have confidently reached out to the ocean, conquering the global market thanks to cross-border e-commerce.
