According to Vietnam Customs, in the first half of October 2024, pangasius exports to the EU reached 7 million USD, up 27% over the same period last year. Cumulative exports to this market as of October 15, 2024 reached more than 134 million USD, down slightly by 0.01% over the same period last year.

In the first 9 months of 2024, the export value of frozen pangasius fillets to the EU reached more than 120 million USD, down 1% compared to the same period in 2023, and accounted for 94% of the proportion; Exports of other dried and frozen fish products (bubbles, cut pieces, whole fish, etc.) to the EU reached more than 5 million USD, up 1% compared to the same period last year; Exports of value-added pangasius products reached 2.6 million USD, down 6% compared to the same period in 2023.

The average export price of Vietnamese pangasius to the EU in the first 9 months of this year continued to fluctuate at below 3 USD/kg and had negative growth in all months compared to the same period in 2023. The average export price in September 2024 to the EU decreased by 13% compared to September 2023 to 2.3 USD/kg. May 2024 is still the month with the highest price recorded at 2.55 USD/kg, down 5% compared to the same period last year.

Pangasius export volume in the first 3 quarters of this year is showing a decreasing trend. February 2024 was the month with the lowest pangasius export volume to this market, with just over 3 thousand tons, down 34% compared to February 2023. Since March this year, the volume of pangasius exported to the EU has gradually decreased over the months. In September 2024, pangasius exports to the EU reached only nearly 6 thousand tons, although still up 3%.

The Netherlands continues to be the country importing the most pangasius in the EU. August 2024 was recorded as the month with the highest pangasius export volume to this market in QIII/2024, with over 4.4 million USD, up 27%. In QIII/2024, pangasius exports to the Netherlands reached nearly 13 million USD, up 20% over the same period. By the end of September 2024, pangasius exports to this country with the highest population density in Europe reached 36 million USD, up 2% over the same period in 2023.

Being one of the largest importers of Vietnamese pangasius, and continuously ranking first in the EU in consumption of this product, is the clearest proof of the quality of Vietnamese pangasius for human taste and nutrition.

In addition to the Netherlands, Vietnam's pangasius exports to some markets in the EU in the first 9 months of this year recorded positive growth, including: Lithuania increased by 232%, Ireland increased by 227%, Italy increased by 163%, Poland increased by 138%, Spain increased by 133%, Slovenia and Belgium increased by 123%, Hungary increased by 116%, .... In addition, some countries reduced imports of Vietnamese pangasius, including Finland decreased by 89%, Latvia decreased by 66%, Slovakia decreased by 39%, Denmark decreased by 28%, ....

Pangasius exports to the EU are still uneven over the months, increasing and decreasing erratically. However, towards the end of the year, export orders to this market will gradually increase due to the need to stockpile goods for the year-end holidays. Enterprises need to take advantage of this time, increase goods, actively and proactively promote to increase exports to markets in the EU.
