Synchronously deploying solutions to promote lychee consumption for the 2026 crop season

To promote lychee consumption for the 2026 crop season, the Ministry of Industry and Trade requested units to synchronously deploy solutions to clear logistics, facilitate customs clearance, and accelerate trade promotion, contributing to achieving the set export growth targets.
In Official Document No. 600/XNK-NH regarding support to promote lychee consumption recently issued, the Agency of Foreign Trade (under the Ministry of Industry and Trade) requested relevant units to coordinate in synchronously executing multiple solutions to facilitate procurement, circulation, and export activities for lychees during the peak harvest season.
Maximizing priority for border gate clearance and phytosanitary inspection
Regarding the General Department of Customs (under the Ministry of Finance), the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection (under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development), and the Border Gate Department (under the Border Guard Command), the Agency of Foreign Trade requested maximum priority for customs clearance and phytosanitary inspection, avoiding cargo congestion at border gates during peak harvest stages. These units need to proactively arrange personnel and equipment to rapidly process fresh lychee shipments which are easily perishable, while strengthening exchanges with the Chinese side to promptly update regulations on quality standards and traceability.
For the Departments of Industry and Trade of northern border provinces, the Agency of Foreign Trade requested regular and close monitoring of cargo transportation situations across the border to promptly coordinate vehicle regulation and inform enterprises of customs clearance capacities. Localities are also required to simplify administrative procedures and reduce costs to create the most favorable conditions for issuing Certificates of Origin for fresh lychees.
The Agency of Foreign Trade requested the Departments of Industry and Trade of Bac Ninh Province and Hai Phong City to direct local enterprises to proactively negotiate delivery schedules with Chinese partners to adjust plans and regulate delivery progress appropriately. Concurrently, they should diversify transportation methods via railway and airway to alleviate pressure on road transport.
The two localities need to coordinate closely with grassroots authorities to organize stable procurement, avoiding scenarios of competitive buying, competitive selling, or forcing down prices on farmers. Along with that, they must accelerate trade promotion through e-commerce platforms and domestic as well as international distribution systems, while guiding enterprises to elevate packaging quality, designs, and satisfy the strict technical standards of importing markets.
On the side of the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetables Association, the Agency of Foreign Trade requested enhanced coordination with localities, enterprises, and cooperatives in production, procurement, processing, and export activities for lychees to grasp consumption situations, promptly reporting arising difficulties and bottlenecks to functional authorities for coordinated handling.
The Association is requested to proactively provide market information, import demands, technical regulations, quality standards, and phytosanitary requirements of importing markets, assisting enterprises in trade connectivity and expanding lychee consumption markets.
Alongside that is accelerating the brand promotion of Vietnamese lychees through trade fairs, exhibitions, and direct as well as online trade matchmaking activities; strengthening coordination with distribution systems, e-commerce platforms, and Vietnam Trade Offices abroad to promote lychee consumption and export.
The Association is also encouraged to mobilize member enterprises to invest in upgrading capacities for primary processing, preservation, deep processing, and product packaging; applying technology in traceability, ensuring quality and food safety to meet the requirements of importing markets.
