South Korea's agricultural exports set new record
From January to October 2024, the total export value of South Korea's agricultural products, including fresh and processed products, reached US$8.18 billion, up 8.7% year-on-year.

According to data released by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs of South Korea on November 5, as of October this year, the export turnover of agricultural products of South Korea has reached a record high, thanks to the popularity of processed food products globally.
A VNA correspondent in Seoul quoted data from the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs of South Korea as saying that in the context of Korean entertainment culture becoming increasingly popular worldwide, from January to October 2024, the total export turnover of agricultural products of South Korea, including fresh and processed products, reached 8.18 billion USD, up 8.7% over the same period last year.

By sector, exports of processed rice products - including frozen rice rolls and instant steamed rice - jumped 41.9% to $250 million. Exports of instant noodles also jumped 30% year-on-year to $1.02 billion. The data also showed that exports of fresh products increased 0.5% to $1.23 billion, with kimchi exports up 3.1% to $134 million.
In terms of markets, exports to the US increased 22.1% to $1.3 billion and exports to Southeast Asian countries increased 5.3% to $1.5 billion. Exports to China also increased 6.9% to $1.24 billion, while exports to Japan fell slightly by 5.9% to $1.14 billion.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs of South Korea said that amid the instability of the world market due to the Middle East crisis and the fluctuations of the US presidential election, the Korean government will continue to expand both online and offline promotional events for Korean agricultural products to attract the attention of the international community./.
