Seafood import turnover in the first 5 months of 2024 decreased by 5.5%
According to preliminary statistics from the General Department of Customs, the import turnover of all kinds of seafood to Vietnam in the first 5 months of 2024 reached over 993.65 million USD, down 5.5% compared to the first 5 months of 2023.
In May 2024 alone, the import turnover of this product group reached nearly 203.89 million USD, up 17.7% compared to April 2024 and up 4.2% compared to May 2023.
In the first 5 months of 2024, India, Norway, Indonesia, China and Japan are the main markets supplying seafood to Vietnam; In which imports from Norway lead in turnover, reaching over 122.26 million USD, accounting for 12.3% of the country's total import turnover of this product group; an increase of 5.3% compared to the first 5 months of 2023, in May 2024 alone, imports from this market reached over 24.28 million USD; down 2.3% compared to April 2024 but up 12% compared to May 2023.
Ranked 2nd is the Indonesian market, imports from this market in May 2024 increased sharply by 47.7% compared to April 2024 and increased 88.6% compared to May 2023, reaching 19.69 million USD. ; bringing total import turnover in the first 5 months of 2024 to 112.41 million USD, accounting for 11.3%, an increase of 31.7% compared to the first 5 months of 2023.
Next, the Chinese market reached 105.17 million USD in the first 5 months of 2024, accounting for 10.6%, an increase of 16.5%; India reached 104.96 million USD, accounting for 10.6%, down 30.9%; Japan reached 66 million USD, accounting for 6.6%, an increase of 7.7%.

Imports from FTA RCEP markets reached 358.27 million USD, up 10.9% over the same period in 2023. Imports from CPTTP markets reached 124.59 million USD, down 17.8%. Imports from Southeast Asian markets reached 150.48 million USD, an increase of 13.4%.
