Promoting agricultural trade, creating opportunities to expand markets
Trade promotion activities in general and connecting agricultural products of provinces/cities in particular will help create opportunities for businesses to expand their product consumption markets.
Expanding consumer market
The domestic pavilion at the 24th International Agricultural Exhibition - AgroViet 2024 takes place from November 20-23 at the Economic and Trade Fair and Exhibition Area (No. 489 Hoang Quoc Viet, Co Nhue 1, Bac Tu Liem, Hanoi), with the participation of enterprises and cooperatives from 40 localities, including: Binh Thuan, Thanh Hoa, Ba Ria Vung Tau, Ho Chi Minh City, Tay Ninh, Ninh Binh, Hung Yen, Lang Son, Cao Bang, Lao Cai, Thua Thien Hue, ....
In particular, the Fair displays and introduces a variety of products with many agricultural products, OCOP products, typical local products, typically: ST25 golden swallow rice, Lao Cai seng cu rice, Bac Giang my chu, Dien Bien jasmine rice, Hong Xiem roast duck, Chu Hanh black jelly, Chi Lang custard apple, A Luoi beef, Hue sour shrimp, Ben Tre green-skin grapefruit, Suoi Lon mango, Tan Trieu grapefruit, Muong Ang Vip tea, Tua Chua tea, Viet Bac lemon, Na Hang corn wine, shrimp paste, Ba Lang shrimp paste, fish sauce, Phan Thiet seafood, Bac Kan fragrant squash, Ca Mau crab, Thanh Hoa sour sausage, Nghe An tamarind sausage, Phu Yen one-sun beef, Quang Nam incense, Ly Son onion and garlic, Luong Quoi coconut oil.
Attending the AgroViet 2024 Fair, the booth of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Ca Mau introduced typical local specialties such as meat crab, Ca Mau crab, and Tai Thinh ecological dried shrimp processed from 100% ecological shrimp living naturally under the mangrove canopy of Nam Can district.
Ms. Mai Thi Thuy Trang - Director of GTX Tai Thinh Phap Farm - shared that she had traveled nearly 2,000km from Ca Mau cape to introduce dried shrimp products to the people of the capital and tourists. We also expect that the products will be welcomed by the people of Hanoi and the whole country. At the same time, we hope to connect and bring them into the system of chain stores and supermarkets.
Similarly, from Rach Gia City, Kien Giang, Ms. Pham Thi Bach Thuy - Director of Thai Thuy Seafood Company Limited brought to AgroViet 2024 Fair many of the company's key products such as spicy dried shrimp, dried anchovies with fish sauce, dried anchovies, dried mullet, dried mullet, etc. which have achieved 3-star OCOP certification.
Ms. Thuy said that the main consumption market is domestic as well as exported to the Japanese and Chinese markets. Particularly for the Hanoi market, the company mainly distributes through wholesale and online sales channels and has not yet sold directly. This is the first time attending the Fair in Hanoi, however, on the first day of the Fair, many customers placed orders, so the company also has high expectations for the Hanoi market for its output.
At the Vietnam Regional Specialties Fair taking place from November 20 to November 24, 2024 at the Royal City Trade Center Square, Thanh Xuan, Hanoi, with a scale of 250 booths, attracting more than 200 units and enterprises from 63 provinces and cities nationwide to participate, display and introduce typical products and specialties of the localities. These include: Shan Tuyet tea, Tay Nguyen coffee, Ly Son garlic, Cat Hoa mango, An Giang palmyra, Phu Quoc pepper, Ca Mau crab, etc.
For the first time, Tien Phat Production, Trade and Service Joint Stock Company (Quy Nhon, Binh Dinh) brought products to the Vietnam Regional Specialties Fair to introduce to the Hanoi market. In addition to seafood and specialties of Binh Dinh sea, there are also clean processed agricultural products grown from raw materials in the Central Highlands such as tea (dried tea, tea bags), cocoa, artichoke, etc.
Mr. Ho Xuan Thang - Tien Phat Production, Trade and Service Joint Stock Company - said that the Company has distributors in many provinces in the Central and Central Highlands, so this time participating in the Vietnam Regional Specialties Fair aims to expand the market to Hanoi and the Northern provinces. On the first day of introducing the product at the fair, many distributors came to meet, learn about the product and made an appointment to visit the production site to visit, learn to sign a contract to consume the product.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thanh Hien - Director of Tomcare Biotechnology Company Limited, the only product introduced at this fair is chili sauce, fermented ground chili, taken from clean chili sources grown domestically. Although the company's fermented chili sauce products have been exported to Australia, the US, Canada, Russia... the Northern market, especially Hanoi, is still Tomcare's top target, because this is a demanding market. If conquered, it will be a great success.
Talking about the results of participating in trade promotion programs, Ms. Vu Thi Hue - Vice President of Yen Bai Province's Women Entrepreneurs Association - shared that after many times participating in the Vietnam Regional Specialties Fair, Yen Bai Women Entrepreneurs Association has built connections with Thanh Hoa, Hai Duong, Quang Ninh, Hung Yen provinces... to consume products. Hopefully, when participating in the 2024 Regional Specialties Fair, Yen Bai businesses will have more partners to consume goods in the near future.
Support connection to distribution channel
Regarding the facilitation of production enterprises to connect with retailers to consume products, Mr. Nguyen Anh Duong - Director of the Hanoi Center for Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion (HPA) - said that in order to facilitate regional specialty production enterprises to exploit the Hanoi market, during the Vietnam Regional Specialties Fair, HPA organizes activities to connect production enterprises with modern retail systems such as Vinmart, Central Retail Vietnam, Co.op Mart... and e-commerce platforms Sendo, Voso...
In particular, HPA also supports provincial and municipal enterprises to introduce products to organizations, enterprises, embassies, and trade representative offices of international enterprises in Hanoi. Not only that, during the fair, HPA organized many consulting activities, thereby helping businesses improve their competitiveness, penetrate distribution systems, e-commerce platforms, etc.
According to Mr. Nguyen Minh Tien - Director of the Center for Agricultural Trade Promotion, through fairs and exhibitions, including the AgroViet 2024 event, these are important trade promotion activities of the Vietnam Agriculture and Rural Development sector, aiming to promote and expand international economic cooperation and exchange, promote brands, products, trade transactions, honor agricultural, forestry, fishery products, OCOP products, high-quality agricultural specialties of localities across the country; this is also an opportunity for businesses and cooperatives to consolidate and exploit domestic and export markets.
Ms. Tran Thi Phuong Lan - Vice President of the Vietnam Retailers Association - commented that trade promotion activities not only connect goods trading from provinces and cities to Hanoi but also enhance the competitiveness of Vietnamese goods in traditional retail systems as well as modern supermarket systems. Thereby, raising awareness and trust of consumers about trade civilization, quality, price, and brand of Vietnamese products.
