Pangasius exports to South Korea increased 3.5 times
In April 2024, Vietnam's pangasius exports to South Korea reached nearly 773 thousand USD, an increase of almost 3.5 times compared to April 2023.
Vietnam is the third-largest supplier to South Korea, with a strong presence in pangasius products, accounting for 3% of the total value of whitefish imports into the country from the world.
According to Vietnam Customs, in April 2024, Vietnam's pangasius exports to South Korea reached nearly 773 thousand USD, an increase of nearly 3.5 times compared to April 2023, but a decrease of 16% compared to the previous month. Cumulative pangasius exports to South Korea in the first four months of this year amounted to over 2.4 million USD, an 18% increase compared to the same period last year.
Frozen pangasius fillets remain the main product Vietnam exports to South Korea. In April 2024, frozen pangasius fillet exports to South Korea reached over 637 thousand USD, a 424% increase compared to April 2023.
As of the end of April 2024, South Korea's imports of frozen pangasius fillets from Vietnam reached over 1.8 million USD, an increase of 28% compared to the same period last year, accounting for 75% of the total share.
However, processed pangasius products exported to South Korea decreased. In the first four months of this year, Vietnam exported nearly 84 thousand USD worth of processed pangasius to South Korea, a 21% decrease compared to the same period last year, accounting for 3% of the total share.
