On June 11, 2026, in Da Nang, the Vietnam Halal Certification Office cooperated with the Da Nang Department of Industry and Trade to organize the workshop “Halal: The gateway to the global market for enterprises”, aiming to facilitate conditions for state management officials, the business community, and relevant agencies and units to access useful knowledge related to the Halal market.

Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Mr. Huynh Xuan Son, Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Industry and Trade, stated that against the backdrop of continuous fluctuations in the global economy, the trend of diversifying export markets is becoming an urgent requirement for Vietnamese enterprises. In particular, the Halal market is assessed as one of the most potential markets today with over 2 billion consumers in more than 110 countries and territories, and the spending scale on Halal products and services has continuously grown strongly over the years.

Not only limited to the food sector, Halal today has developed into a comprehensive economic ecosystem, encompassing fields such as beverages, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, logistics, tourism, hotels, finance, and many other service industries. This is an immense development space for Vietnamese enterprises in general and Da Nang enterprises in particular.

With rich sources of agricultural and aquatic raw materials, along with increasingly enhanced production capacity, Da Nang possesses many advantages to participate deeper in the global Halal supply chain.

However, to effectively exploit this potential, according to Mr. Son, enterprises need to proactively raise awareness and invest in upgrading production processes. Building a quality management system in line with Halal standards is essential. At the same time, enterprises need to strengthen connectivity with certification organizations and international distributors to expand export markets.

Sharing at the workshop, Ms. Nguyen Chi Tra My, representative of the Vietnam Halal Certification Office, stated that the Halal consumer industry currently is not uniquely dedicated to Muslims but is a global economy consisting of food and beverages, pharmaceuticals – cosmetics, Muslim-friendly tourism...

The Government of Vietnam has clearly recognized the potential from the Halal market and has deployed many projects aiming to strengthen international cooperation, constructing and developing the Vietnam Halal industry until 2030. Trade promotion activities, the provision of market information, and support for enterprises to access standard and certification systems have also been stepped up.

For Da Nang, the city possesses many outstanding advantages in industrial manufacturing, food processing, seafood, signature agricultural products, logistics, seaports, aviation, and tourism. These are fields with great potential to participate in the Halal value chain in the region and the world. In particular, Da Nang is orienting to become a center for high-quality services, logistics, tourism, and an international trade connection hub of the Central region.

However, according to Ms. My, to utilize opportunities from the Halal market, enterprises need to carefully study the legal requirements of markets related to Halal, as well as the market culture. Concurrently, participating in training courses on Halal to deeply understand standards and Islamic culture is essential. In addition, enterprises need to assess their current status to build an appropriate roadmap for Halal registration, assessment, and certification…

The Halal market is not only a business opportunity but also a challenge that requires thorough preparation and a long-term strategy. With support from the Government and international organizations, along with the efforts of enterprises, Vietnam in general and Da Nang in particular can fully become a vital link in the global Halal supply chain. This is the golden time for enterprises to seize opportunities, expand markets, and enhance competitiveness in the context of increasingly deep and wide international economic integration.
