Amid volatility in global logistics, Lulu Group has deployed a charter flight transporting nearly 100 tonnes of fresh fruits and vegetables from Vietnam to the Middle East, helping stabilize supply and support agricultural exports.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, on April 18, a cargo flight arranged by Lulu Group successfully transported approximately 98 tonnes of fresh produce from Vietnam to the Middle East, departing from Tan Son Nhat International Airport. This move reflects efforts to maintain bilateral trade flows and ensure food supply chains remain uninterrupted under challenging global logistics conditions.

The initiative was implemented under the direction of Mr. M. A. Yusuff Ali, Chairman of Lulu Group, highlighting the company’s long-term commitment to supporting Vietnamese exporters while ensuring a stable supply of fresh agricultural products for key Middle Eastern markets.

The shipment was procured and consolidated by MAY Exports Vietnam, the group’s sourcing arm in Vietnam, through an extensive supplier network across southern regions. Exported products included a variety of typical Vietnamese fresh fruits such as lime, dragon fruit, pomelo and jackfruit, demonstrating both quality and diversity.

According to representatives of MAY Exports Vietnam, procurement, packaging and logistics operations were carried out on an expedited basis while ensuring quality standards and delivery timelines, particularly for perishable goods.

The aircraft from Abu Dhabi landed in Ho Chi Minh City on the night of April 17 to receive the cargo. After loading operations were completed, the flight departed early on April 18, transporting the entire shipment to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for further distribution across Middle Eastern markets.

In the context of disruptions affecting maritime transport, especially for perishable goods, shifting to air freight is considered a timely and flexible solution. This mode significantly shortens transit time, preserves product freshness and reduces the risk of supply chain disruptions.

In the Middle East, Vietnamese fruits continue to be widely distributed through Lulu’s retail network, one of the largest supermarket chains in the region. This not only enhances the visibility of Vietnamese agricultural products but also expands access to international consumers.

This transport operation further underscores the role of international distributors in connecting markets and highlights the growing potential for cooperation between Vietnam and the UAE in agriculture, trade and logistics.

In the coming period, flexible transport solutions such as air freight are expected to continue proving effective, contributing to stronger supply chains, sustained export growth and expanded opportunities for Vietnamese agricultural products in global markets.
