According to estimates, Vietnam's fruit and vegetable exports in May 2024 reached 700 million USD, up 16.1% compared to April 2024 and up 7.4% compared to May 2023.

In the first 5 months of 2024, fruit and vegetable export turnover is estimated to reach 2.59 billion USD, up 28.2% over the same period in 2023.

In the first months of 2024, fruit and vegetable exports recorded high growth to key export markets such as China, Korea, the United States, Japan and Thailand.

The export value of fruits and vegetables to the Chinese market leads in the first 4 months of 2024, reaching 1.16 billion USD, an increase of 44.2% over the same period in 2023; followed by the Korean market reaching 107 million USD, an increase of 63.3%; The United States reached 93.3 million USD, an increase of 33%; Japan reached 61.4 million USD, an increase of 13.4% and Thailand reached 59.1 million USD, an increase of 95.2%...

With the current growth momentum, fruit and vegetable exports are forecast to continue to grow positively. In particular, increased demand from the Chinese market will be the factor promoting export growth of this product.

China is Vietnam's main fruit and vegetable export market, accounting for 61.4% of the total export value of products in the first 4 months of 2024.

Currently, Vietnam has 14 agricultural products officially exported to the Chinese market including: Durian, bird's nest, sweet potato, dragon fruit, longan, rambutan, mango, jackfruit, watermelon, banana, black jelly, mangosteen, lychee and passion fruit…

China has signed the Quarantine Protocol for watermelons from December 2023 and officially takes effect from June 12, 2024; Meanwhile, the Protocols on exporting frozen durian, fresh coconut, avocado, and passion fruit to China are in the process of active negotiation.

However, sustainable export requires Vietnamese fruit and vegetable products to further improve quality. Because currently, not only China, but many other countries around the world are also tightening the quality of imported agricultural products.
