Indonesia is Vietnam's largest seafood import market.

In 2024, Vietnam will import seafood from 23 major markets, of which Indonesia is the largest import market.

According to data from the General Department of Customs, in 2024, Vietnam will spend 2.63 billion USD to import seafood from the world, a slight increase of 1.8% compared to the previous year (YoY).

Last year, Vietnam imported seafood from 23 major markets. Notably, Indonesia surpassed India and Norway to become Vietnam's largest source of seafood imports in 2024 with 334 million USD, up 61.3% year-on-year.

Norway was the second largest seafood import market with 320 million USD, up 13.4% year-on-year; India ranked third with 285 million USD, down 14.5% YoY.

In 2024, Vietnam will spend over 100 million USD to import seafood from markets including China with 273 million USD, up 22.7% YoY; Japan with 211 million USD, up 23.9% YoY; Taiwan (China) with 172 million USD, up 26.8% YoY; Russia with 121 million USD, up slightly 0.2% YoY and Chile with 108 million USD, down 7.8% YoY.

In the ASEAN bloc, Vietnam also imports seafood from the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Myanmar and Malaysia. In general, import turnover from these markets in 2024 decreased compared to the previous year.

Specifically, seafood import turnover from the Philippines reached 38.3 million USD, down 5.1% compared to the previous year; from Thailand with 22 million USD, down 34.7% YoY; Malaysia with 20.6 million USD, down 22.8% YoY.

Vietnam spent 4 million USD to import seafood from Myanmar, down 39.3% compared to the previous year; Singapore with 1.1 million USD, down 81.9% YoY.

In the European region, Vietnam also imported seafood from the UK with 34.4 million USD, up 11.3% compared to the previous year; from Poland with 5.1 million USD, up 10.8% YoY; from Iceland with 3.3 million USD, up 66% YoY; from Ireland with 5.5 million USD, down 11.2% YoY....

In the Asian region, Vietnam also imported seafood from Korea with 84.3 million USD, down 18.9% YoY...
