Rice exports continue to grow and breakthrough

At the end of April, our country's rice exports reached more than 3 million tons and brought in over 2 billion USD, an increase of about 40% over the same period in 2023.

Commenting on the rice market in the second quarter, the Vietnam Food Association said that world rice prices and Vietnam's export rice prices will remain high. The world's largest rice exporter, India, has not lifted the ban on white rice exports since the middle of last year. Thailand will also cut rice exports to ensure domestic food security. It is forecasted that the world will have a shortage of about 7 million tons of rice this year. This creates opportunities for rice exporting countries, including Vietnam.

High quality rice is being prepared for export to Ivory Coast and Ghana. In addition to the contract of more than 20,000 tons of fragrant rice to be delivered to West African countries, the factory also has the opportunity to sign many new contracts. The warehouse has about 30,000 tons of finished rice, an increase of more than 20% over the same period in 2023. Thanks to stable and abundant orders, the business must operate continuously.

In fact, the price of Vietnamese rice is 5-10% higher than Thai and Indian rice, when in the second quarter, the average sales price reached more than 650 USD/ton. Prioritizing the processing of fragrant rice lines and effectively exploiting many potential market niches will help our country's rice industry continue to grow and breakthrough.

Thanh Ha lychees will be brought to the Australian market by plane

The first batch of Thanh Ha lychees (Hai Duong) of 2024 will be brought to Australia by plane on May 14. This is a traditional market that has consumed Thanh Ha lychees for many years.

According to Red Dragon Production, Trade and Services Co., Ltd. (Ho Chi Minh City), the business is processing about 1 ton of Thanh Ha early lychee for export to Australia. The above amount of lychee was purchased on May 11 at a number of gardens in Ha Dong area, the lychee meets VietGAP and GlobalGAP standards.

The first batch of Thanh Ha lychees (Hai Duong) of 2024 will be brought to Australia by plane.

After careful screening and preliminary processing, on May 13, the company sent all of this lychee to be irradiated to meet quarantine criteria and on May 14, it will be exported to Australia by air.

According to the plan, when lychee blooms earlier and u Hong lychee tea is harvested, every day the business will purchase 10-15 tons for export.

Agricultural, forestry and fishery exports grew impressively

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, agricultural, forestry and fishery export turnover in April reached 5.14 billion USD, an increase of 19.7% compared to April 2023.

In the first 4 months of 2024, the country's total export turnover of agricultural, forestry and fishery products is estimated to reach more than 19 billion USD, up 23.7% over the same period last year. Most key agricultural and forestry export products increased higher than the same period last year as well as the export value to all markets increased.

Specifically, main agricultural product exports were 2.83 billion USD (up 29.2%), forestry products were 1.39 billion USD (up 18.6%); livestock 40.8 million USD (up 5.9%); production input 157 million USD (up 0.5%). Seafood alone is 730 million USD (down 1.5%). Overall, in the first 4 months, all export commodity groups increased, so export turnover increased, reaching 19.06 billion USD.

Of which, coffee exports had the highest growth rate, reaching 2.5 billion USD, an increase of more than 54% over the same period last year. Next is rice, after 4 months, 3 million tons were exported, with a turnover of 1.93 billion USD, up 13.5% in volume and 23.7% in value over the same period last year. Vietnam's rice exports continue to dominate key markets with large consumption demand for output.

According to calculations by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, with export results in the past 4 months (the highest ever in the first 4 months of the year); If the whole year maintains 750 thousand tons/month, the export market space can be up to 9 million tons of rice.

Along with coffee and rice, vegetables and fruits are also agricultural products with impressive growth in the first 4 months of 2024, with export turnover reaching 1.8 billion USD, up 32% over the same period last year.
