Export of animal feed and raw materials earned more than 311 million USD

According to preliminary statistics from the General Department of Customs, exports of animal feed and raw materials in April earned 89.29 million USD, an increase of 12.2% compared to the previous month. Accumulated in the first 4 months of the year, this product has earned more than 311 million USD, down 4% compared to the same period in 2023.

In terms of market, China is the largest market for this product with 120 million USD in the first 4 months of the year, down 16% over the same period last year. In April alone, exports to the Chinese market reached more than 40 million USD, a sharp increase of 30% compared to March.

The US is Vietnam's second largest export market, and is sharply increasing imports of this product with more than 38.6 million USD in 4 months, a sharp increase of 113% over the same period.

Cambodia ranked third with 38.4 million USD in the first 4 months of the year, down 31% over the same period. Animal feed exports to the FTA - RCEP market reached 237.58 million USD, down 12.9% over the same period, accounting for 76.3% of the total turnover.

Animal feed exports to the FTA CPTTP market reached 42.99 million USD, up 2.8%, accounting for 13.8%. Animal feed exports to Southeast Asia market reached 99.86 million USD, down 10.9%, accounting for 32%.

Name three agricultural products with export turnover of over 2 billion USD

According to the General Department of Customs, cumulatively from the beginning of 2024 to May 15, Vietnam's export of agricultural products reached 9.5 billion USD; an increase of 34% compared to the result of 7.1 billion USD in the same period last year.

From the beginning of 2024 to May 15, Vietnam has 3 agricultural products with export turnover of over 2 billion USD with a total of 7.2 billion USD, accounting for 75% of the proportion.

3 agricultural products achieved export turnover of over 2 billion USD

Three products with export turnover of 2 billion USD or more are coffee with 2.6 billion USD, up 49% over the same period last year. This increase occurred mainly due to a high increase in coffee export prices of +49% over the same period last year, to 3,432 USD/ton. Meanwhile, coffee volume decreased by 0.4% over the same period last year, to 779,555 tons.

Fruit and vegetable products brought in 2.2 billion USD, up 38% over the same period last year. Next is rice with 2.32 billion USD, an increase of 34% in value over the same period last year. Along with the increase in volume of +11% over the same period last year (to 3.6 million tons), the average rice export price also increased by 21% over the same period last year, reaching 640 USD/ton.

Vietnamese tuna is exported to more than 90 markets

According to statistics from the General Department of Vietnam Customs, tuna exports in April 2024 reached nearly 87 million USD, up 29% over the same period last year. Cumulatively in the first 4 months of 2024, export turnover reached nearly 302 million USD, up 22% over the same period.

In April 2024, Vietnamese tuna products were exported to more than 90 markets, of which main markets such as the US, EU, Israel, Canada, Japan, Mexico... all increased rapidly.

Tuna exports reached nearly 87 million USD

Some markets had outstanding growth rates during the month such as: America with +37% over the same period; EU with +71% over the same period; Russia with +32% over the same period and South Korea with +158% over the same period. Some markets also had a reversal, such as Japan increasing 33% over the same period and Mexico increasing 43% over the same period.

In the first four months of the year, processed and canned tuna export turnover increased from 91 million USD in 2020 to 154 million USD in 2024, equivalent to 70% higher. VASEP believes that Vietnam's canned tuna exports are gradually recovering, higher than the same period in 2019, before the Covid pandemic.

The country's total import-export turnover reached more than 270 billion USD

According to the latest statistics of the General Department of Customs, from the beginning of the year to May 15, 2024, the country's total import-export turnover reached 270.82 billion USD.

Specifically, in the first period of May (May 1-15), exports reached 14.64 billion USD. During this period, there were 4 export product groups with billion-dollar turnover: Computers, electronic products and components; Phones and components; machinery, equipment, tools, spare parts; textile.

The country's total import-export turnover reached more than 270 billion USD

Overall, from the beginning of the year to May 15, total export turnover reached 138.59 billion USD, an increase of 16% over the same period in 2023 (equivalent to an increase in turnover of 19.17 billion USD).

The General Department of Customs said that all 10 largest export markets had positive growth including: United States, EU, China, ASEAN, Korea, Japan, Hong Kong (China), India, Canada, Australia.

Among them, the 5 largest markets with the most impressive increases are: United States, China, EU, ASEAN, Hong Kong (China).

On the contrary, imports in the first period of May reached 17.26 billion USD, of which, two groups of billion-dollar imported goods are: Computers, electronic products and components; machinery, equipment, tools, spare parts.

Accumulated from the beginning of the year to May 15, the country's total import turnover reached 132.23 billion USD, up 17.5% over the same period last year (equivalent to an increase in turnover of 19.7 billion USD).

By mid-May, the country's import-export turnover reached 270.82 billion USD, with a surplus of 6.36 billion USD.

Cashew exports to markets have positive growth

Statistics from the General Department of Customs show that in the first 4 months of this year, Vietnam exported over 217,500 tons of cashew nuts, earning 1.17 billion USD. Compared to the same period last year, our country's cashew exports increased by 34% in volume and 22.5% in value.

In 4 months, cashew exports to most markets grew positively. In particular, Vietnam's cashew exports to many major markets increased by 2 to 3 digits.

In the first 4 months of this year, Vietnam exported over 217,500 tons of cashew nuts, earning 1.17 billion USD

The US is still the largest customer of Vietnamese cashew nuts. By the end of April this year, our country exported nearly 57,200 tons of cashew nuts to the US market, with a turnover of 304.1 million USD; increased 32.3% in volume and 20.4% in value compared to the same period last year.

In the first 4 months of the year, Vietnam exported 37,200 tons of cashew nuts to China, earning 201.4 million USD. Compared to the same period last year, cashew exports increased sharply by 97.6% in volume and 62.4% in value.

Notably, more than 90% of China's cashew nuts are imported from Vietnam.

Last year, Vietnam's cashew exports reached 644 thousand tons, worth 3.64 billion USD; increase by 24% in volume and more than 18% in value compared to 2022. The US and China are also big customers of Vietnamese cashew nuts.

Specifically, in 2023, the US will be Vietnam's largest cashew export market, accounting for 24.6% of the country's total cashew exports. The amount of cashew nuts exported to this market reached 158.5 thousand tons, with a value of 886 million USD, an increase of 10.3% in volume and an increase of 5.1% in export turnover compared to 2022.

Cashew nut exports to the Chinese market recorded a breakthrough, reaching 113 thousand tons, earning 683 million USD, an increase of 49.8% in volume and an increase of 55.2% in value compared to the previous year. The Chinese market accounts for 17.5% of our country's total cashew export turnover.
