In the second half of the year, exports to the EU could reach more than 50 billion USD
According to the Import-Export Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade), the total import-export turnover of goods between Vietnam and the European Union (EU) in the first half of the year reached 32 billion USD, with a trade surplus of 17 billion USD; increased 18.5% over the same period, recording a positive increase in the first 6 months of the year.
The most positive point seen in the Ministry of Industry and Trade's statistics is that exports in the past 6 months have reached 24.5 billion USD, up 14.1% over the same period last year.
Specifically, exports to the European market grew in double digits thanks to the significant recovery of key product groups such as phones, computers, textiles, footwear, agriculture, forestry and fisheries.
The strongest increase is in the group of computers, electronic products and components with an increase of nearly 50% over the same period last year, a quite high increase. Next, machinery, equipment and spare parts increased by more than 22%, and seafood exports from Vietnam to the EU increased by 12%.
According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, if the recovery momentum continues as in the first and second half of this year, exports to the EU could reach 50-52 billion USD.
Exports to the Russian market reached 1.17 billion USD
According to the General Department of Customs, in the first half of 2024, Vietnam will have 22 main products exported to the Russian market.
In the first 6 months of 2024, goods exports to the Russian market reached 1.17 billion USD, an increase of 44% compared to 812 million USD recorded in the same period last year.
Notably, among the 22 main products exported to Russia, textiles and garments have the highest turnover with 398 million USD, accounting for 33.9% of the total export value to this market. Next is coffee with 189 million USD; Other machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts reached 117 million USD.

Also according to the General Department of Customs, products in the turnover group of over 100 million USD all have good growth compared to the same period last year in the first half of 2024. Specifically, textile and garment export turnover to Russia increased by 86% over the same period last year, and exports of machinery, equipment, tools and other spare parts increased by 102% over the same period last year. Coffee exports to this market, although increasing slightly compared to the above two products, still reached +35% over the same period last year.
In addition, in the agricultural and aquatic products group, Vietnam's seafood exports to Russia reached 95 million USD, up 105% over the same period last year; fruits and vegetables reached 32 million USD, up 24% over the same period last year; Cashew nuts reached 32 million USD, up 58% over the same period last year.
Pepper export turnover also increased by 98% over the same period last year, to 15 million USD; rice increased by 76% over the same period last year, reaching 3.7 million USD. Pepper is the only product in the group with a decrease in turnover with -3.3% over the same period last year, to 5.8 million USD.

Numbers from the Import-Export Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade) show that in 2023, export turnover will reach 508.8 million USD, an increase of 36.5% over the same period last year; The volume reached 148.5 thousand tons, an increase of 16.8%.
In particular, the price of coffee exports to these internal markets in 2023 will also reach a high level, in which unroasted, undecaffeinated coffee will reach 2,733 USD/ton in the last month of 2023; an increase of 8.8% over the same period in 2022.
Notably, from the beginning of 2024 until now, in some ASEAN markets, coffee exports have grown rapidly. Typically, in Cambodia, coffee exports to here in the first 5 months of the year grew by 79% over the same period last year.
In Singapore, Vietnam is currently the 9th coffee export partner. In the first 3 months of this year, Vietnam's coffee exports to this market grew by 3 digits. Specifically, turnover reached 1,465 thousand SGD, an increase of 175.38% over the same period last year.

Pepper exports increased sharply by 30.5%
Statistics from the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA) show that in June 2024, Vietnam's pepper exports reached 28,162 tons of all kinds of pepper; decreased 10.2% in volume but increased slightly by 0.1% in turnover.
Cumulatively in the first 6 months of the year, Vietnam exported 142,586 tons of pepper, down 6.8% in volume but up sharply by 30.5% in value. Of which, the amount of black pepper exported reached 125,959 tons, white pepper reached 16,627 tons. Total export turnover reached 634.2 million USD.
In particular, the average export price of pepper has increased by 1,000 USD/ton compared to the same period in 2023. Specifically, the price of black pepper reached more than 4,300 USD/ton, white pepper reached nearly 6,000 USD/ton.
In the first half of 2024, the US continues to be Vietnam's largest pepper export market with a volume of 37,435 tons, an increase of 44.6% over the same period last year, accounting for 26.3% of the market share. Behind is the market of countries such as Germany with 9,526 tons (an increase of 106.7%); UAE market reached 8,388 tons (up 15.2%); The Indian market reached 8,173 tons (up 45.7%) and the Dutch market reached 6,019 tons (up 52.1%).

According to statistics from the General Department of Customs, in June, Vietnam exported nearly 14 thousand tons of tea, worth 26.9 million USD; increased 47.2% in volume and 74.4% in value compared to the previous month; increased 44% in volume and 57% in value compared to June 2023.

In the first 6 months of 2024, Pakistan is still Vietnam's largest tea export market but is in a downward trend, reaching 16 thousand tons, worth 33.6 million USD; down 13.2% in volume and 3.6% in value compared to the same period in 2023.
The second largest export market is Taiwan (China), reaching 6,762 tons, equivalent to 11.3 million USD, priced at 1,683 USD/ton; increased 11% in volume, increased 15% in value and increased 3.8% in price over the same period.
China is the market with the strongest growth, imports reached 6,304 tons, equivalent to 9.3 million USD, an increase of 198% in volume and an increase of 83% in value. The average tea export price to this market only reached 1,476 USD/ton, a deep decrease of 38.6% over the same period. This makes China Vietnam's third largest export market.
In June alone, the country of billions of people imported 1,609 tons of tea from Vietnam, the highest level since the beginning of the year, equivalent to 2.5 million USD; Strong increase of 285% in volume, 173% increase in turnover over the same period.
