Effective solutions, agricultural, forestry and fishery exports flourish
Thanks to the effective implementation of solutions to open up the market and sign new orders, in the first 7 months of 2024, the total export turnover of agriculture, forestry and fishery products increased by 18.8%.

Many key products have good growth
According to data from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD), the export turnover of the agricultural, forestry and fishery group in July 2024 reached 5.11 billion USD, an increase of 18.2% compared to July 2023. Of which, main agricultural products were 2.62 billion USD (up 25.2%), forestry products were 1.4 billion USD (up 15.8%), aquatic products were 880 million USD (up 13.2%), livestock was 47.4 million USD (up 9.3%). Production inputs alone reached 154 million USD (down 19.9%).
In the first 7 months of 2024, most commodity groups increased, so the export turnover increased, reaching 34.27 billion USD. In particular, the export of key products was higher than the same period last year.
In terms of markets, the US, China and Japan continue to be the three largest export markets for Vietnamese agricultural, forestry and fishery products; in which the export value to the US increased by 21.6%, China increased by 11.3% and Japan increased by 4%...
The above results were achieved because the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development guided localities to regulate production plans and promote exports. In addition, proactively handling food safety incidents, cases of shipments being warned in import markets and negotiating to resolve technical barriers, expanding export markets for markets: China, Korea, Indonesia, EU; supporting localities and enterprises to develop agricultural product markets...
Market development, promoting agricultural product consumption
With the growth momentum from the beginning of the year until now, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan said that the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has raised a number of targets higher than the level assigned by the Government at the beginning of the year. Specifically, the target of agricultural, forestry and fishery export turnover is raised to 57 - 58 billion USD (the Government assigned 55 billion USD at the beginning of the year). Strive for the whole year of 2024, the GDP growth rate of the whole industry is 3.2 - 4%, in which the value of cultivation increases by 2 - 2.2%; the value of livestock production increases by 4 - 5%; the value of aquaculture production increases by 3.7 - 4%; the value of forestry production increases by 5 - 5.5%.
To achieve this goal, the agricultural sector must change its mindset from taking output to added value as the goal; change its mindset from increasing output to increasing value, increasingly meeting domestic consumption and export needs.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development also said that in the coming time, it will continue to handle market issues to facilitate the export of agricultural, forestry and fishery products, typically implementing projects to promote the export of agricultural, forestry and fishery products to markets such as China, the US, Japan and the EU. Functional units are actively opening new markets with great potential such as: Halal Muslim countries, the Middle East, Africa, etc.
A representative of the Plant Protection Department (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) said that this agency is actively coordinating with specialized agencies in importing countries to open markets for many agricultural products of Vietnam. Currently, grapefruit has completed the documents for export to Korea and is in the process of completing documents with the markets of India, Japan and Australia. At the same time, passion fruit is also completing documents with the markets of the US and Australia. For the Chinese market, products such as frozen durian and fresh coconut are also completing documents, along with avocado and seedless lemon products. In addition, Vietnam is negotiating with India to open the way for durian exports.

Of which, agricultural products were 15.27 billion USD, up 7.6%; livestock products were 2.09 billion USD, up 5.4%; aquatic products were 1.44 billion USD, down 3.8%; forestry products were 1.55 billion USD, up 20.8%; production inputs were 4.48 billion USD, up 12.3%; salt was 21.4 million USD, down 16.6%.
