Coffee is one of the two most exported Vietnamese products to Belgium
In the first two months of 2025, the total import-export turnover between Vietnam and Belgium reached 585 million USD, down 4% over the same period last year (YoY).
During the period, according to data from the Customs Department, Vietnam earned 472 million USD from exports to Belgium, down 9.9% compared to the first two months of 2024; imports reached 113 million USD, up 26% YoY.
Regarding exports, Vietnam exported 20 main items to this market. Footwear was the largest export item to Belgium with 150 million USD and was also the only item with a turnover of over 100 million USD in the first two months of 2025. Compared to the same period last year, the export value of footwear to Belgium decreased by 21%.
Coffee was the second largest export item to Belgium with 63.2 million USD, up 86% YoY. The following items were iron and steel with 51 million USD, down 50% YoY; textiles and garments with 50.3 million USD, down 7% YoY.
Export items to Belgium in the first two months of 2025 with a turnover of over 10 million USD also include machinery, equipment, tools, and other spare parts reaching 22.7 million USD, down 13.9% YoY; handbags, wallets, suitcases, hats and umbrellas with 18.1 million USD, up 7.5% YoY; seafood with 17.8 million USD, up 21% YoY; toys, tools, sports and parts with 12 million USD, up 170% compared to 4.4 million USD in the same period.
During the period, some Vietnamese export items to Belgium increased sharply such as rubber with +316% compared to the same period last year, from 0.65 million USD (first two months of 2024) to 2.7 million USD in this period; pepper with +248% YoY, from 0.31 million USD to 1.08 million USD.
Vietnam also earned 46.1 million USD from exporting other goods to Belgium, up 20% over the same period; specific items were not announced by the Customs Department.

Regarding imports, Vietnam imported 19 items from Belgium. Pharmaceuticals were the largest import item from this country with 40.8 million USD, up 213% compared to 13 million USD in the same period last year.
Machinery, equipment, tools, and other spare parts were the second largest import item with 22 million USD, up 51% over the same period last year. The total import turnover of these two items reached 62.8 million USD, up 128% YoY and accounted for 55% of Vietnam's import turnover from Belgium.
In addition to the above two items, Vietnam also imported fertilizers from Belgium with 5.4 million USD, up 20% YoY; precious stones, precious metals and products with 4.4 million USD, down 58.7% YoY; chemical products with 3.43 million USD, down 53% YoY; animal feed and raw materials with 3.03 million USD, down 1.3% YoY…
Some imported items from Belgium recorded high increases during the period such as milk and dairy products with +166% YoY, from 0.8 million USD in the same period to 2.13 million USD in this period; confectionery, cereal products with +103% YoY, from 0.29 million USD to 0.59 million USD; other food preparations with +100% YoY, from 0.17 million USD to 0.34 million USD; wood and wood products with +206% YoY, from 0.7 million USD to 2.2 million USD.
Vietnam also spent 20.5 million USD to import other goods from Belgium, a slight increase of 1.9% YoY; specific items were not announced by the Customs Department.
