At this time, many longan orchards in Thoi Hung Commune, Can Tho City, are entering their harvest season. "Thanh Nhan" longan fruits are quite large, featuring thick, firm pulp, small seeds, a delicious aroma, and a refined sweet taste. Highly favored by consumers, they command some of the highest selling prices among longan varieties.

Longans grown in Thoi Hung are purchased by enterprises for export to international markets, further enhancing the product's value. To supply fresh, delicious longans that meet export standards to the market, orchard owners must mobilize a large workforce for harvesting, primary processing, and sorting, creating a vibrant harvest season atmosphere.

The longan tree bears fruit according to its natural season, with harvesting taking place from around the end of the 6th lunar month to the beginning of the 10th lunar month, peaking in the 7th lunar month.

Currently, Can Tho City has over 330 hectares dedicated to longan cultivation, with Thoi Hung Commune accounting for the largest growing area. The "Thanh Nhan" longan tree has helped many households improve their income while contributing to job creation for numerous rural laborers.

Longan typically yields about 1.3–1.7 tons per cong (1,000 $m^2$). To quickly harvest 1 ton of longan, orchard owners usually hire 20 or more laborers, with total costs ranging from 7 to 10 million VND, depending on the height of the trees.

During the harvest, male laborers typically handle heavy-duty tasks: picking fruits from the trees and transporting longans to designated locations as required. Meanwhile, female laborers carry out the primary processing stage, removing branches and sorting the longans.

Workers must follow instructions provided by technical staff from export purchasing companies to sort and select longans that meet size, color, and maturity standards for export.

Longans for domestic consumption are also sorted by growers to remove non-compliant fruits and packaged carefully for swift delivery to consumption points.
