Agricultural exports bring in more than 5 billion USD cumulatively up to March 15
Accumulated from the beginning of 2025 to March 15, although many agricultural products decreased, the total agricultural export turnover still reached more than 5 billion USD, mainly due to the increase in coffee exports.
According to the General Department of Customs, from the beginning of the year to March 15, the total import-export turnover of agricultural products of Vietnam reached 7.74 billion USD, an increase of 7.3% over the same period last year.
Regarding exports, during the period, Vietnam earned 5.28 billion USD from exporting agricultural products to the world, an increase of 8.4% over the same period last year (YoY).
Coffee is the item with the largest export turnover with 2.28 billion USD, an increase of 41.9% compared to 1.6 billion USD in the same period last year, this is also the item with the highest growth rate in the group.
Pepper is the second item with positive growth in turnover during the period with +39.7% YoY, up to 243 million USD.
In contrast, the export turnover of cassava and cassava products decreased by 15.6% YoY, to 303 million USD; vegetables and fruits decreased by 12.9% YoY, reaching 896 million USD; rice decreased by 12.4% YoY, down to 904 million USD. Tea export turnover also decreased by 3.1% YoY, to 35 million USD; cashew nuts decreased by 1.8% YoY, reaching 621 million USD.

In terms of price, during the period, according to Mekong ASEAN's calculations from the Customs Department's data, coffee was the commodity with the highest average price growth of +73% over the same period last year, reaching 5,614 USD/ton (same period reached 3,228 USD/ton). Pepper had the second largest growth rate of +65% YoY, reaching 6,813 USD/ton (same period reached 4,104 USD/ton); followed by cashew nuts with +26% YoY, reaching 6,898 USD/ton.
In contrast, the average export price of rice decreased by 20% over the same period, reaching 531 USD/ton; cassava and cassava products with -31% YoY, reaching 315 USD/ton and tea with -0.3% YoY, reaching 1,627 USD/ton.
Regarding imports, Vietnam spent 2.45 billion USD to import agricultural products from the world in the period, up 4.8% YoY in the period. Cashew nuts were the largest import item with 613 million USD, up 19.5% YoY.
Vietnam's cumulative fruit and vegetable import turnover from the beginning of the year to March 15 also increased by 17.7% YoY, reaching 491 million USD. Imported milk, dairy products and wheat increased by 46.8% YoY (reaching 279 million USD) and 2.2% YoY (reaching 378 million USD), respectively.
In contrast, corn import turnover decreased by 16.6% YoY, down to 501 million USD; soybeans decreased by 23.2% YoY, reaching 189 million USD.
Regarding prices, according to Mekong ASEAN's calculations from the Customs Department's data, the import price of cashew nuts in the period increased by 52% YoY, from 1,240 USD/ton to 1,894 USD/ton; corn imports increased slightly by 0.8% YoY, reaching 255 USD/ton.
In contrast, the average import price of soybeans decreased by 18.3% YoY, to 457 USD/ton; wheat with -5.4% YoY, reaching 265 USD/ton.
