5 months: Agricultural, forestry and fishery exports earned 24.14 billion USD
In the first 5 months of 2024, total agricultural, forestry and fishery export turnover is estimated to reach 24.14 billion USD, up 21% over the same period; Trade surplus was 6.53 billion USD, an increase of 64.5%.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said that in May 2024, agricultural, forestry and fishery exports reached 5.06 billion USD, an increase of 11.2% compared to May 2023; Of which, main agricultural exports reached 2.73 billion USD (up 14.3%); Forest product exports reached 1.35 billion USD (up 17.9%); Livestock product exports reached 45.8 million USD (up 10.2%); Seafood exports alone reached 780 million USD (down 3.5%) and exports of production inputs reached 153 million USD (down 6.9%).
In general, in the first 5 months of the year, most product groups increased, so export turnover increased, reaching 24.14 billion USD. Contributing to this export result, agricultural products reached 13.11 billion USD, an increase of 27.7%; Forest products reached 6.58 billion USD, an increase of 22.7%; seafood reached 3.5 billion USD, up 3.6%; livestock reached 199 million USD, an increase of 5.6%. Production inputs alone were 756 million USD, down 1.3%.
Regarding export value, most key products are higher than the same period last year, such as: Wood and wooden products reached 6.14 billion USD (up 23.6%); Coffee reached 2.9 billion USD (up 44.1%); rice reached 2.65 billion USD (up 38.2%); cashew nuts reached 1.55 billion USD (up 19.3%); fruits and vegetables reached 2.59 billion USD (up 28.1%) and shrimp reached 1.3 billion USD (up 7.5%).

The average export price is as follows: Rice reached 638 USD/ton, up 20.5%; Coffee reached 3,482 USD/ton, an increase of 49.9%; rubber reached 1,504 USD/ton, up 8.8%; pepper 4,308 USD/ton, up 39.3%; Cashew nuts alone reached 5,378 USD/ton, down 8.6%; tea 1,656 USD/ton, down 0.8%...
Export value to all markets increased. Of which, exports to the Asian market reached 11.31 billion USD (up 17.5%); Americas reached 5.4 billion USD (up 23.1%); Europe reached 3.2 billion USD (up 39.4%); Africa reached 459 million USD (up 26.1%) and Oceania reached 341 million USD (up 24.8%).
The United States, China and Japan continue to be Vietnam's three largest agricultural, forestry and fishery export markets; Of which, export value to the United States accounted for 20.6%, an increase of 23.9%; China accounted for 19.2%, an increase of 8.6% and Japan accounted for 6.7%, an increase of 6.6%.
