TOANPHAT Group and the solution to greener export supply chains

05/06/2026

As global markets place increasing emphasis on sustainability, export businesses are facing requirements that go beyond product quality alone. The way goods are stored, processed, and transported has become an integral part of evaluating both corporate capabilities and supply chain performance.

This trend is accelerating the adoption of green logistics as a new standard in international trade. Green logistics is no longer reflected solely through environmental commitments or ESG reports. It is increasingly measured through operational efficiency, resource optimization, energy conservation, and the ability to maintain product quality throughout the entire journey from production to export.

On June 5 in Tay Ninh Province, representatives of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) awarded the LEED Gold O+M certification to Toan Phat Irradiation Plant (TPI) and Toan Phat Refrigerated Warehouse (TPL), both members of TOANPHAT Group. The achievement highlights the growing presence of sustainable operational standards within Vietnam’s logistics industry.

Mr. Santanu, Associate Director – Market Development, U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), presents the LEED Gold O+M certification to Mr. Vuong Hieu, Chairman and General Director of Toan Phat Irradiation Co., Ltd.

Toan Phat Irradiation Plant and Toan Phat Refrigerated Warehouse, key components of TOANPHAT Group’s green logistics ecosystem, have been awarded the LEED Gold O+M certification.

LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is one of the world’s most widely recognized green building rating systems. The LEED O+M (Operations and Maintenance) certification focuses on evaluating the actual operational performance of existing facilities through criteria covering energy efficiency, water management, waste reduction, indoor environmental quality, and operational management.

Unlike certifications that primarily assess design or construction phases, LEED O+M reflects how a facility is operated on a day-to-day basis and its ability to sustain performance over the long term. For the logistics sector, this has become increasingly important as global supply chains move toward lower emissions and more efficient resource utilization.

At Mekong Logistics Hub, TOANPHAT Group is developing an integrated logistics ecosystem that combines irradiation, cold storage, and transportation within a single service chain. According to the company, its development strategy is built upon process standardization, resource optimization, and continuous improvement of operational efficiency across every stage of the supply chain.

Alongside operational excellence, TOANPHAT Group maintains management systems certified to international standards, including ISO 9001, HACCP, and ISO 22000. In addition, both Toan Phat Irradiation Plant (TPI) and Toan Phat Refrigerated Warehouse (TPL) hold Halal certification, while TPL is also certified with an EU Code, meeting requirements for the storage of frozen seafood exports destined for the European market.

While quality and food safety certifications demonstrate a company’s ability to control products and processes, LEED Gold O+M reflects a broader commitment to improving operational efficiency and resource management throughout the logistics service chain.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Toshihide Kataoka, General Director of Toan Phat Logistics Joint Stock Company, stated that achieving LEED Gold O+M certification for both Toan Phat Irradiation Plant and Toan Phat Refrigerated Warehouse represents recognition of the team’s continuous improvement efforts in pursuing operational excellence and sustainable development.

According to Mr. Kataoka, the certification also serves as motivation for the company to further enhance service quality and create greater value for customers, business partners, and the wider community.

Mr. Toshihide Kataoka, General Director of Toan Phat Logistics Joint Stock Company, delivers remarks at the certification ceremony.

Today, the gap between business objectives and sustainability goals is becoming increasingly narrow. Decisions related to energy consumption, resource management, and operational efficiency are no longer internal business matters alone; they have become critical components of supply chain competitiveness.

As green logistics gradually becomes the common language of international trade, raising operational standards not only helps businesses strengthen trust among customers and partners but also creates opportunities to participate more deeply in markets that increasingly prioritize long-term sustainability values.

From this perspective, LEED Gold O+M is more than a certification. It reflects how Vietnamese enterprises are proactively adapting to the evolving requirements of global supply chains, where operational excellence and sustainable development are becoming inseparable drivers of long-term competitiveness.
